Katie Cubeta has been engaged with literature all of her life, including two Master’s degrees and a 38-year teaching careers.
That’s why she jumped at the chance to start the Baker Book Club. Reading a short piece of fiction or poetry, Katie leads our participants through a discussion that explores the hopes, fears and ideas expressed in the work, and how it may relate to our own lives.
“Baker is a place which meets people where they are and guides them to what they can be,” observes Katie. “Examining a work and exploring the questions it raises help us better understand another dimension of others, and ourselves.”
Volunteers like Katie share more than their time. They share their interests and passions in ways that enrich the lives of our participants at work and at home. Thanks, Katie, for all the good stories!
