NBC10 Visits Baker Industries for National Disability Employment Awareness Month

This October, in honor of National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM), NBC10 Philadelphia stopped by Baker Industries to highlight the value—and impact—of inclusive employment.

Reporter Matt DeLucia spent the day with Pete, a legally blind participant in our workforce development program who brings precision, consistency, and positivity to every task. Pete is known for working on complex assembly projects, including sprinkler kit builds that require focus and skill.

“You find a lot more happiness with accomplishing something in life,” Pete told NBC10—a reminder of how dignity and fulfillment come from doing meaningful work.

At Baker Industries, we’re proud to support individuals with disabilities through paid transitional employment, job-readiness training, and a trauma-informed, team-based environment. Pete’s story is just one example of what’s possible when inclusion is more than a value—it’s part of the work.

We’re grateful to NBC10 for highlighting this important message—and to Pete for showing up every day with skill and heart.
